1953:
Walter L. Cherry founds Cherry Electrical Corporation in the USA.

1963:
Establishment of Popp-Cherry GmbH in Bad Berneck

1964:
As a subsidiary of the Cherry Electrical Corporation, Cherry Mikroschalter GmbH is founded in Germany.

In 1966
Cherry Mikroschalter GmbH moves ist site to Bischofsgrün.

1969:
Cherry Deutschland establishes a new administration and production center in Bayreuth.

1972:
Cherry Electrical Products Limited was established in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

1979:
Cherry Deutschland´s increased producion volume necissitates the move from production and administration into the new factory in Auerbach.

1980:
Production in the electronics area is expanded.

1983:
For the first time, sales exceed 50 million DM. In Bonneuil near Paris, Cherry Sàrl is established as an independent sales office for the French market.

November 1984:
Cherry celebrates 20 years

1985:
In Auerbach, another section of the factory is completed. Sales reach 120 million DM.

1989:
For the first time, sales of over 200 million DM are achieved. A new logistics center with high-rack warehouse, additional production space, and a new administration building make space for further growth.

July 1990:
The key to the fourth building section in the Auerbach factory is handed over.

1996:
A new production location is built in Bayreuth.

1999:
The new Cherry factory in Klásterec, the Czech Republic, is dedicated.

2000:
Cherry GmbH achieves total sales of 361 million DM. A large part of these sales are achieved with electronic products that were developed within the last 7 years.

2005:
Award for "Die Beste Fabrik Europas / Industrial Excellence Award 2005"
