CHERRY is a brand of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. For more than four decades, the red cherries have stood for high-quality, attractively designed computer input devices. As well as keyboards, mouse devices and readers, the CHERRY brand also includes switching and control devices that are specially developed for industrial and household applications.

CHERRY has been developing and producing keyboards since 1967, which makes it the world's oldest keyboard manufacturer. We are the market leader in standard corded keyboards, developing and producing solutions for both private and business customers. Right from the start, our products have been developed by engineers in Auerbach, in Germany's Upper Palatinate region. They include groundbreaking innovations such as the Gold-Crosspoint system, with its unmatched quality that is particularly appreciated by gamers, and the world’s first computer keyboard to use solar technology. We also develop custom solutions when needed, and carry out extensive tests and comprehensive quality control in our own laboratory.

Although development and production took place in parallel only a few years ago, the requirements on consumer keyboards are now very different to the demands made on input devices designed for the business sector. As well as functionality and high-quality workmanship, it is the design of the product that counts. Since the launch of the CyMotion 2003 series, Cherry has worked closely with renowned product designers. This combination of high-quality, innovative hardware and attractive product design has already been recognised with design prizes such as the IF Design Award, the red-dot Design Award and the Plus-X-Award.

In the business sector, the top priority is still absolute reliability. As well as this, solutions for individual requirements also have to be implemented in many areas. The integration of magnetic or chipcard readers and biometric fingerprint sensors has produced a wide range of special keyboards for applications in health care, security and point of sale (PoS). For example, CHERRY provides hardware support for reading and editing electronic health cards. This contributes greatly to the improvement of data transmission between medical care providers, insurers and pharmacists, making it more secure and cost-effective. As an expert partner for service providers and insurers, CHERRY has been involved in developing the electronic health card right from the start, since the launch of the first health card keyboard in 1994. To enable us to continue to offer our customers the best possible solutions in future, CHERRY works in close cooperation with gematik GmbH and is also a member of the Teletrust SICCT Task Force and the Bitkom eHealth working group.

Health care is not the only sector where protecting personal information takes top priority. For many years, CHERRY products have helped safeguard security in critical areas for businesses through compliance with special security standards, such as Common Criteria certification at evaluation assurance level EAL 3+ for qualified electronic signatures. CHERRY cooperates with expert software partners in the business sector to ensure it can always provide the best possible solution for individual customer requirements. CHERRY combines reliable hardware with carefully selected software to deliver the ideal solution for every user.
